Frequently Asked Questions

Paver Questions, Answered

Straight answers about installation, repair, sealing, costs, and what to expect when you work with Elite Pavers Solutions across Southwest Florida.

Paver Installation

New driveways, pool decks, patios, walkways, and entries.

How long does a paver installation take?

Most residential paver projects in Southwest Florida are completed in 3 to 7 working days. A standard driveway runs 3 to 5 days, a pool deck 4 to 7 days, and a patio or walkway 2 to 4 days. Weather, demolition of existing surfaces, and base conditions are the main variables.

What materials do you install?

We install brick, travertine, marble, and porcelain pavers. Each material has a different look, price point, and performance profile. Travertine and porcelain are our most popular pool deck choices because they stay cool underfoot. Brick and marble are common for driveways and formal entries.

Do I need a permit for a new paver driveway or pool deck?

Most municipalities in Southwest Florida require a permit for new paver driveways, pool decks, and any work that changes the drainage footprint of the property. We pull all required permits as part of every installation contract.

How thick is your base preparation?

Our standard base for residential paver work is 6 inches of compacted crushed limestone for patios and walkways, and 8 inches for driveways and pool decks. Base depth is the single biggest factor in long-term performance, and we do not compromise on it.

Will my new pavers shift or sink over time?

Properly installed pavers on a compacted base with the correct edge restraint should not move. The vast majority of failures we repair are the result of inadequate base prep by other contractors. Our installations are warranty backed for structural settling.

Paver Repair & Re-Leveling

Sunken, lifted, or uneven pavers from base failure or settling.

Can sunken pavers be saved without a full replacement?

Yes, in most cases. We pull up the affected section, rebuild the compacted base properly, and re-lay the original stones. This is a structural repair, not a cosmetic patch. You should not be able to tell the area was ever touched once we are finished.

Why are my pavers sinking in the first place?

Sinking is almost always a base failure. Either the original base was not compacted correctly, the depth was too shallow, drainage was not addressed, or settled fill was used. Florida soil and rainfall punish shortcuts in base prep.

Do you re-level pool deck pavers?

Yes. Pool decks are one of the most common areas we re-level because the surrounding soil settles around the pool shell. We rebuild the compacted base and reset the original pavers so the deck sits flat and drains properly.

How long does a repair project take?

Most localized repair and re-leveling jobs are completed in 1 to 3 days depending on the square footage and how many separate areas need to be addressed.

Cleaning, Sealing & Restoration

Bringing tired, faded, or stained pavers back to life.

How often should pavers be sealed?

Most paver surfaces in Southwest Florida should be cleaned, re-sanded, and sealed every 3 to 5 years. UV exposure, salt air, and heavy rain accelerate fading and joint erosion compared to inland climates.

What does paver restoration include?

A full restoration is a deep clean to lift dirt and biological growth, replacement of joint sand, and a fresh sealer application. The result is restored color, locked-in joints, and a surface that sheds water cleanly.

Will sealing change how my pavers look?

Sealers are available in natural matte, satin, and wet-look finishes. We walk through samples on your project so you can choose the finish you want before we apply anything.

Can you remove oil, rust, or efflorescence stains?

Yes. We use targeted treatments for oil, rust, efflorescence, and organic staining as part of our cleaning process. Severe stains are evaluated during the estimate so expectations are clear.
